How can I export from Darktable without a watermark using a style?

I usually keep the watermark module enabled in Darktable, but sometimes I want to export selected images without the watermark from the lighttable. I tried editing an exported style XML file and changing the watermark module from enabled to disabled, but applying the style did not behave as expected. Since styles are applied as history stack entries, can a style be used to turn the watermark off at export time? If so, what is the correct workflow?

My best shot for this particular use case is to create a style which enables the watermark and configure my export presets to use it.
I just deactivate it when needed.
I see 2 drawbacks :
- If I configure the watermark in the darkroom, I must not forget to deactivate the watermark module,
- The style apply its own recorded presets and resets any watermark settings I would have manually set.
- This logic may not suit every use cases.

Yes. In current Darktable versions, the practical way is to create a style from a history entry where the watermark module is turned off, then apply that style during export.
Workflow:
- Open an image that currently has a watermark.
- In Darkroom, disable the watermark module.
- In the History Stack, create a style using only that watermark step.
- Save it as something like "watermark off".
- In Lighttable > Export, choose that style before exporting. You can also save this as an export preset.
This works because the style adds a history step that disables the watermark. An older workaround was to append a "watermark off" style before export and then undo it afterward, but using the export style/preset is cleaner.
One caveat noted by users: styles apply their recorded module state, so if your watermark settings were changed manually, the style may restore the saved watermark state rather than your latest ad hoc settings.
