Can you lock an image's edit history in darktable to prevent accidental changes?

In darktable, is there any way to lock an image or its history stack in darkroom so I can avoid accidentally changing a finished edit? I accidentally applied a module part-way through the history stack and overwrote later steps. If locking isn't possible, what's the safest workaround to preserve a completed edit?

The lack of an Undo function is one of the worst "features" of darktable... What I normally do is to duplicate the image in lighttable when I am happy with it.

Duplicating in DT simply add another .xmp file; if grouping is active you just see one (the most recent) for editing, and the other copy will be unaffected and safe and visible only if you ungroup the images.

You can browse the manual around http://www.darktable.org/usermanual/ch02s02s06.html.php

Darktable does not appear to offer a true “lock” for an image’s history stack in darkroom. A practical workaround is to duplicate the image in lighttable once you’re happy with the edit. In darktable, duplicating creates another sidecar/XMP version, so your finished version remains preserved while you continue experimenting on the duplicate. If grouping is enabled, you may only see the most recent version until you ungroup the images. This is the safest approach mentioned for protecting a completed edit from accidental changes.
