How can I disable darktable's automatic processing on RAW files?

I'm new to darktable and noticed that when I open a RAW photo, some modules are already applied, such as base curve and sharpen. I know I can click "original" in the history stack, but I'd prefer to stop these adjustments from being applied automatically in the first place. Is that possible, and which processing steps cannot be disabled for RAW files?

In lighttable mode, go to preferences > processing. Then, disable every "auto apply" option.

It still uses white-balance and automatic orientation with data from camera.
You may also edit module presets, and configure when they are applied automatically. But you cannot edit built-in presets.

EDIT: as @user10216038 already said. Demosaicing module is always applied too. Otherwise, there is no image to see from a raw file.

Yes—darktable lets you reduce most automatic edits, but not all processing can be disabled for RAW files.
In lighttable, go to Preferences > Processing and turn off the relevant “auto apply” options. You can also review module presets and change when your own presets are applied automatically. Built-in presets generally can’t be edited.
That said, some processing is essential for any RAW file to display properly. For example, demosaicing is required because RAW data is not yet a finished color image. Camera-derived white balance and auto-rotation/orientation may also still be applied.
If what you’re seeing is the camera’s embedded JPEG preview rather than the RAW rendering, check Settings > Lighttable and choose RAW instead of embedded JPG.
So: you can disable most optional auto-applied modules like base curve/sharpen via preferences, but you can’t turn off the fundamental RAW-development steps needed to produce a visible image.
