I'm trying to find out whether the Nikon SB-400 soft case, model SS-400, has a loop on the back for attaching it to a belt or strap. If anyone has used this case, does it include any kind of rear loop or attachment point?

Nope, it looks like it doesn't. I ended up doing a YouTube search for SB-400 videos, to see if anyone mentioned it. I didn't find any videos explicitly talking about the cover, but these links briefly show the cover's back, and there is no loop visible:

No—the Nikon SB-400 case (SS-400) does not appear to have a belt loop on the back. Community members checked videos showing the rear of the case and no loop was visible, and an owner of the SB-400 also recalled that the case is a very small, snug pouch without a rear attachment. The SB-400 itself is compact enough to fit in a pocket or stay mounted on the camera, which likely explains the simple case design.
