Does changing shooting modes disconnect Wi‑Fi on a Canon EOS 750D?

I’m using a Canon EOS 750D with an Android phone via Canon Camera Connect or DSLR Controller. Whenever I change the camera’s shooting mode, the Wi‑Fi connection drops and I have to reconnect. Is this normal behavior on the 750D, and is there any way to stop it from disconnecting when switching modes?

Sorry, but after researching the web for quite some bit, it seems that it is how the functionality of the Wi-Fi connection is intended to be.

Hope for changes fixing this in the firmware updates by Canon. Couldn't find a way to submit requests to Canon. If anyone does know a way, do post!

Based on the available reports, yes—this appears to be normal behavior on the Canon EOS 750D. Changing shooting modes can cause the camera’s Wi‑Fi session to end, so the phone app disconnects and must reconnect afterward.

From the answers provided, there isn’t a known setting or workaround that reliably prevents this on the 750D. The practical options are:

  • set your shooting mode before starting the Wi‑Fi session
  • reconnect after changing modes
  • check whether a Canon firmware update improves behavior

So, unfortunately, this is most likely an intended limitation of how Wi‑Fi works on that camera rather than a fault with your phone or app.
