I connected my Canon EOS 70D to the Canon EOS app on my iPhone to test the wireless features, but I want to disconnect it now. What's the proper way to end the connection, and is there any risk to the camera or phone if I just turn Wi‑Fi off or close the app?

No harm will come to either the camera or the phone by disconnecting in any way, so just do whatever's easiest. Any of these will work:

  • The app has a button to disconnect.
  • Turn off the WiFi connection on the camera.
  • Kill the app on the phone. (Press the home button twice and then swipe up on the image of the EOS app's screen.)
  • Switch the WiFi network on the phone or turn off WiFI.

There’s no special shutdown procedure needed here—disconnecting the 70D from the EOS app won’t harm the camera or your iPhone.

Any of these methods will safely end the connection:

  • Use the disconnect button in the EOS app
  • Turn off Wi‑Fi on the camera
  • Close/force-quit the EOS app on the iPhone
  • Switch the iPhone to a different Wi‑Fi network or turn off Wi‑Fi on the phone

If you want the cleanest method, use the app’s disconnect option first. But if that’s inconvenient, simply disabling Wi‑Fi on either device or closing the app is fine.
