Does Apple Aperture support an efficient RAW+JPEG workflow?

I’m considering Apple Aperture for shooting RAW+JPEG and want to know how well it handles paired files. In particular, can Aperture treat a RAW and JPEG as a single pair for culling and rating, while still letting me access either file individually when needed? For example, if I import RAW+JPEG images as pairs or stack them, can I apply a star rating or delete action to both files together without manually expanding the stack and selecting each one?

Yes! I'm doing this myself.
The key is to make the right choice during import. One of the import settings is RAW + JPEG Pairs which give you five self-explaining options.
Both (Use JPEG as Original)Both (RAW as Original)Both (Separate Originals)JPEG files onlyRAW files only
If you choose one of the first two, you're JPEG+RAW pair will be treated as such by Aperture. You can also pair JPEG and RAW later, more information at Apple's Support pages.

Yes. Aperture supports RAW+JPEG workflows well if you choose the right import option. On import, the RAW + JPEG Pairs setting offers modes such as using the JPEG as the original, using the RAW as the original, keeping both as separate originals, or importing only one format.
If you use one of the paired options, Aperture treats the RAW and JPEG as a pair rather than two unrelated files, which is what you want for faster culling and rating. You can still access the individual files when needed, and pairing can also be done later.
Aperture also has behavior controls for actions like rating and deleting so they can apply to the whole selected set rather than just a single highlighted item. In practice, that means a RAW+JPEG pair can be rated or deleted together without having to manually open a stack and select both files one by one.
So for your main concern—quickly rating or removing unwanted RAW+JPEG captures—Aperture does support that workflow better than treating the files entirely separately.
