How can I manage RAW+JPEG files together and cull bad shots efficiently?

I shoot RAW+JPEG so I can edit the RAW files later, while my wife can quickly upload the JPEGs without extra work. After a family outing I may have 300+ photos, and some are obvious rejects like blurry or overexposed shots. Right now I manually delete each RAW/JPEG pair I don't want.
Is there software, ideally free, that can manage RAW+JPEG pairs together so renaming, moving, or deleting one also applies to the other? I'd also welcome simple workflow tips for reviewing, culling, and organizing these files.

If you are looking for a free option Picasa is probably your best bet. You can match it up with Gimp to do some more advanced editing. The preferred solution by many is Adobe Lightroom, which you can find on sale for around $130USD right now I believe.
Depending on the camera that you bought, you likely received a disc of software with it that may even include some pretty good digital asset management software of its own.

This question that has many answers might help you, although it does cover paid as well as free options: What software is focused on reviewing and organizing images?
A great group of articles can be found at this link: http://www.neocamera.com/article.php?id=dam-software It explains in more detail about how using digital asset management software can benefit the photographer, as well as going into detail about the paid options available.
A blog post at this very site may help you out as well, it specifically outlines the options available in Adobe Lightroom, but the same basic feature set exists in any digital asset management software such as Picasa or Apple Aperture. Yes. What you want is digital asset management software that understands RAW+JPEG pairs.
From the answers, a free option is Picasa, and you can pair it with Gimp for more advanced editing. Also check the software that came with your camera, since many cameras include capable photo-management tools.
A commonly recommended paid option is Adobe Lightroom. It can associate JPEGs with RAW files and stack the JPEG behind the RAW, which helps keep your library tidy. In Lightroom, a simple workflow is to review images in the Library module, mark keepers, flag rejects, and then delete the rejected photos in one step, removing the RAW+JPEG pair together.
Another practical approach is to keep only the RAW files long-term. Since JPEGs can be recreated from RAW files, you can let your wife use the JPEGs for quick uploads, then delete the JPEGs afterward. That simplifies file management and saves storage space.
So: use a DAM tool for pairing and culling, and consider deleting JPEGs after their immediate use.
