Can you view or move the focus point on a Nikon D7500 while tethered in Lightroom?

I tether my Nikon D7500 to a Windows 10 laptop using Adobe Lightroom. On the camera in Live View, I can see and move the focus point, which helps me zoom in to check focus and use the focus-point location for spot metering.

When shooting tethered in Lightroom, I can't see the focus point. Is there a way to display or move it from Lightroom while tethered, or do I need different tethering software?

You need software that can use the live view feed for tethered shooting in order to see/control the focus points/focus. The latest versions of Lightroom Classic (10.3+) only supports a very limited number of Nikon cameras for this.

You can use open source software with that capability such as digiCam control instead, or purchase a plugin for Lightroom Classic such as Smart Shooter 4.

Usually not in Lightroom with a D7500. To view or control focus points while tethered, the software needs live-view tethering support with focus control. Lightroom Classic only offers that for a limited set of Nikon bodies, so with a D7500 you generally should not expect full live-view focus-point display or movement there.

If you need to see the live view feed and move the focus point for focus checking or metering, use tethering software that supports those controls, such as digiCamControl, or a Lightroom add-on such as Smart Shooter 4.

In short: Lightroom itself is likely the limitation here, not your camera.
