Can Lightroom 4 relink photos after moving them to another drive or computer?

I keep my Lightroom 4 catalog on my laptop because Lightroom catalogs can’t be stored on a network drive, while the photo files themselves are stored elsewhere. If I move those photo folders to another drive, change laptops, or both, will Lightroom lose my edits? Can I manually point Lightroom to the new folder location and have it reconnect to the files?

LR will lose the connection, but by manually going through your catalog and right-click each directory (Find Missing Folder, if I remember correctly) you can point LR to the new location.

Yes. If you move the photo files or change computers, Lightroom may show the folders as missing, but your edits are still محفوظ in the catalog. You can relink the images by right-clicking a missing folder in Lightroom and using Find Missing Folder to point Lightroom to the folder’s new location. Once reconnected, Lightroom should apply the existing catalog adjustments to those files again. The key is keeping your catalog intact; moving the photos does not erase the processing you’ve already done.
