Can you offset the rotation preview grid in GIMP when straightening an image?

In GIMP’s Rotate tool, the preview grid lets you set the number of gridlines, but I can’t find any way to shift the grid so a line falls exactly on the horizon or another reference edge. Changing the rotation center doesn’t seem to move the grid.
When using corrective straightening, I’d like to align a gridline to a horizontal or vertical feature in the photo for more precise leveling. Is there any way to offset the rotation preview grid in GIMP?
Also, if clipping is set to crop, is there a way to have the canvas automatically adjusted after rotation?

AFAIK there is no way to offset the grid. However, there is a simpler way to straighten the photo: simply drag a guide from the ruler at the edge of the image until it lies along the horizon (or whatever else you want), then rotate as normal.

Based on the available answers, GIMP does not provide a way to offset the Rotate tool’s preview grid.
A practical workaround is to use a guide instead of the grid: drag a guide out from the ruler at the edge of the image and place it along the horizon or other line you want to level. Then rotate the image normally while using that guide as your reference.
No confirmed method was provided in the answers for automatically adjusting the canvas after rotation when clipping is set to Crop.
