In Lightroom’s Library module, hovering over a folder shows a preview image in the Navigator, but it seems to default to the first file in that folder. Is there any way to set a specific photo as the folder’s preview image instead?

Apparently, the only way to change the preview image is to reorder the images in the folder so that the desired image is first.

Lightroom does not provide a direct way to manually choose a folder preview image. Based on the available answer, the preview is taken from the first photo in that folder, so the only practical workaround is to reorder the files so your preferred image appears first.
