Can Apple Photos on macOS batch-edit image metadata beyond title, description, keywords, and location?

I’m using the built-in Photos app on macOS and can only find editing options for title, description, keywords, and location. Does Photos support editing other metadata fields, such as EXIF/IPTC information, either individually or in batches? If not, are there third-party tools or extensions that work with Photos for batch metadata editing?

To reframe you question, you need to understand what Photos really is. It is essentially 3 things :
- previews you can look at on the screen
- your originals sorted somewhere (including EXIF information, related to the shooting, and possibleIPTC information, vulgarly referred to as "metadata" )
- a database to handle the previews
The database does not handle other metadata than the one you mentioned (and favorites). Unlike what Aperture used to do. So no, there are not built-in tools to do that.
You could come up with third-party tools that could modify your originals, but you would not be able to see it through Photos interface.

Generated from our catalog & community — verify before relying on it.
Apple Photos does not provide built-in editing for most image metadata beyond fields like title, description, keywords, location, and favorites. In general, Photos stores and manages your library with previews, originals, and its own database, but it does not expose broader metadata editing the way older pro photo apps did.
So, within Photos itself, batch-editing extended metadata is not supported.
A third-party app may help. One community suggestion is MetaImage, which is designed to read and write a wide range of metadata and can apply the same changes to many images at once. It also offers a Photos extension. However, keep in mind that even if a third-party tool modifies the original files’ metadata, Photos may not display all of those changes in its own interface.
