The Olympus OM10 SLR camera features automatic exposure control to simplify photography in varied light conditions. A Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens is provided with the camera. The Olympus OM10 employs the direct TTL light measuring system with an electronically-controlled shutter. Its aperture-priority mode adjusts the shutter speed automatically as per the lens diaphragm opening. Manual exposure metering is possible with an optional adapter. The pentaprism viewfinder has 0.92× magnification and 93% screen coverage. For focusing, the camera integrates a matte screen with a microprism band around the split-image spot. You can mount an external flash on to the hot shoe. The two 1.5 V LR44 or SR44 batteries are used for powering the automatic exposure metering of the camera.
Optics and Focus
The Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens has 6 optical elements in 5 groups. It provides an angle of view of 47°. The wide aperture opening of f/1.8 ensures bright images in dim light and shallow depth of field. This lens can manually focus down to a minimum distance of 0.45 m. A 49mm circular filter can be attached to the front thread. The camera employs the TTL direct-light measuring system. It automatically fine-tunes the electronic shutter speed to achieve the correct exposure. A compensation dial is provided to adjust the exposure from -2 EV to +2 EV. You can attach a manual adapter for the exposure metering.
Sensor and Screen
The camera comes with a pentaprism viewfinder that offers 0.92× magnification and covers 93% of the actual image. In the viewfinder, you can see the shutter speed in 12 steps and a flash LED indicator.
Image and Video
The Olympus OM10 SLR captures exposures in a 35mm film. A large quick-return mirror prevents image cut-off. The film advance lever has a 130° of winding angle and 30° stand-off angle. An optional Olympus OM System Winder 2 can be attached to the camera for automatic film advance. Take long exposure shots by switching to the blub mode.
Other Features
The accessory shoe with x-sync contact makes you mount an electronic flash on the camera. Once the flash unit is mounted, it gets automatically synchronized with the shutter speed at 1/60th of a second. The self-timer allows you to set the shutter release delay by 12 seconds. Use two 1.5 V LR44 or SR44 batteries to function the light metering and electronic shutter of the camera.
