The Canon AT-1 Film SLR camera with 50mm f/1.4 lens lets you relive the long-lost charm of analog photography. This camera can be used with Canon FD-series lenses. It comes with a manual exposure with a CdS cell TTL full-aperture metering. The highest ISO of this camera is 3200 and its shutter speed can be increased up to 1/1000th of a second. Both fixed split-image and microprism screens are used for focusing. You may use the Depth-of-Field preview button when manually adjusting the focus. With the dedicated hot shoe and German socket, an external flash can be attached to this camera. Other features in the camera include the self-timer, battery check, and a bulb for the time exposure.
Optics and Focus
The Canon AT-1 SLR comes with the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens. The lens is made with seven optical elements in six groups. It has an Ultrasonic AF motor that ensures a fast and quiet performance. It can focus on an object as close as 1.5 ft. The lens is designed with an eight-blade diaphragm that lends a rounded bokeh in the background of images. The Canon AT-1 comes with a manual exposure metering that can be used to extend the ISO to 3200. Additionally, the shutter speed of this camera can be increased up to a maximum of 1/1000th of a second.
Sensor and Screen
The fixed eye-level pentaprism viewfinder of this Canon camera offers 93.5% horizontal and 96.3% vertical fields of view. The split-image rangefinder, which is encircled by the microprism rangefinder, can be used for focusing. There are arrows in the viewfinder that indicate over- and under-exposure.
Image and Video
The Canon AT-1 SLR is made for the 35mm film format that has a speed range of 25–3200. You get to know the number of exposed frames with the provided frame counter. The frame counter automatically resets to its initial count if the back of the camera is opened. Advance the exposed frame with the help of the film-advance lever, which is in ready position at 30°.
Other Features
This Canon film camera has a self-timer that allows you to set the delay for the shutter release up to 10 seconds. You may cancel the timer by pressing the battery check button. You may also check the Depth of Field in the image with the help of the DOF preview button. Important information such as film speed and location can be written down on a note and kept in the provided memo holder. The camera comes with a hot shoe for an external flash. After attaching the flash, the camera synchronizes it with the shutter at up to 1/60th of a second. Both the flash and shutter of the camera are powered by a single 4G-13 6 V mercury oxide battery.
