The year 2014 is going to come to an end soon. By the time you finish the Christmas week, you are there, waking up in a new year. However, it must be said that 2014 has been a fairly exciting year for the photographers. Throughout the year, we witnessed major companies launching some very meaningful and ‘usable’ cameras and accessories in all segments, and for all sorts of photographers. What now? Well, apart from the news of new products launched, we got to hear a lot about the potential releases as well. Then, the natural question we ask is “What can we expect from 2015?” or “What is there in store for a serious photographer?” Most of it is still in the form of rumors, but each rumor comes with enough evidence to expect it to be true. Let’s take a look:
Canon PowerShot Camera to be Announced 2015
A large sensor-equipped high-zoom camera, which was recently leaked on the Canon Netherlands website, is expected to be announced in the first week of January. We still don’t have anything on the specs and price front, but the camera will surely complete the trinity comprising of the PowerShot G1 X Mark II and the PowerShot G7 X.
Successor to Olympus E-M5
Here’s something every shutterbug will be interested in: Olympus will announce the successor to the impressive E-M5 in the first week of February. It will be on show in Japan soon after the announcement. We still don’t know exactly what the specs are like, but rest assured, for it offers a higher image resolution. Fingers crossed for this one.
EF-S 9-22mm f/4.5-5.6 STM Canon Lens
The patent for this lens has already been submitted by Canon. The lens will essentially have a longer zoom length than the 10–18 mm lens. We will hopefully see this lens on shelves early next year.
New Prime Lenses from Tamron
According to a report, Tamron is all set to release a number of prime lenses for high-resolution full-frame sensors. After Tamron announced the SP 15–30 mm TV USD lens for full-frame megapixel sensors, this is quite a sensational move. Again, we expect them to hit the shelves this coming year.
Nikon’s February 11 announcements
This is not a rumor, since Nikon has already made it official. Nikon is going to announce a lot of new releases on February 11th. It includes two new DSLRs, the Nikon D4S and Nikon 1 V3, as well as a few Coolpix cameras, a brand new lens, and much more. We’ve marked our calendars already, Nikon.
The products will be available at unique Photo as soon as they are out. Meanwhile, you can browse through the huge range of Canon, Nikon and Tamron products we keep. Also, feel free to share this article.
