
2013 once again saw the return of the most coveted photography contests. Experienced and amateur photographers alike were seen clamoring to submit their entries in these professional photo contests. The past year witnessed some new contests making their mark along with the well-received older competitions. Listed below are the most popular photography contests of 2013.
1) Shoot the Face Contest: This contest gave photographers the scope to display their wonderful portraits on a global platform. The winner received a 300 US$ cash and their work was published in the internationally renowned “Blur” magazine. “Blur” magazine is circulated in over 190 countries, thus providing you fantastic exposure among the work’s of some of the world’s foremost photographers. Furthermore, they will receive the chance to create their very own medium landscape photo book with the help of “MILK Books” who have tied up with this event. Finally, the winner also gets a spectacular little camera accessory from the “Think Tank” group.

2) Exposure 2013: Just as the name suggests, the contest is meant to provide wide exposure to great photography talent. It’s an awesome platform for aspiring talent to showcase their pictures before the whole world. The competition believes that irrespective of ethnicity, language, or social standing, whoever understands and expresses themselves through the universally common language of apertures and lenses is more than capable of making a mark in this event. Each prize offers the winners cash awards ranging from 10,000 US$ to 500 US$ along with other features such as exhibition opportunities, online recognition, magazine prints, among other scopes and rewards.

3) Traveler National Geographic Contest 2013: This is one of the world’s most prestigious photography contests and it’s one of the few contests that allow contestants to showcase their travel encounters on a global scale. One prize only is awarded to the winner of the “National Geographic Photo Contest” competition. The prize comprises of a Galápagos Expedition of 10 days with the National Geographic Expeditions ; a feature for the winning photograph in the Dec 2013/Jan 2014 issue of the National Geographic Traveler; another feature of the photo on the contest website of the National Geographic Traveler; and a free year long subscription to the National Geographic Traveler magazine.
