The question that every photographer has been asking: where is the successor to
X Pro 1?
We all know about the
X Pro 1. The camera made Fuji a brand worthy of serious attention. It introduced a completely different camera system, with new mounts and lenses. Upon its release 3 years ago, it grabbed the attention of some serious photographers with the old fashioned dial based handling and outstanding image quality. Later, X PRO 1 became something of a cult camera. Fuji did announce last year a sequel called X PRO 2, but we are yet to see it in the shelves. Instead, we have rumors abounding about specs revision and release dates of Fujifilm X PRO 2.
Needless to say, everything will have to be swallowed with a pinch of salt. We have been hearing about X PRO 2 for more than a year now, so much so that the camera is almost a legend now, with no sign of the real thing but myth in plenty.
The latest news is that the camera will hit the markets sometime in 2015. As to when exactly in 2015, it is anybody’s guess. According to the report, the camera is going to feature a new sensor and a very useful and much anticipated dual card slot.
There is a considerable amount of information available about the specs and the upgradation from its successor. An APS-C sensor, an ASwN sensor together with a tilt screen and built in wifi seems to be in the offing for sure. As for the prices, projections tell that it will be 20-30% more expensive than the
X-T1. Not bad, taking in view that it was always unabashedly meant for a high end audience.
With so much enthusiasm around the release and so much promise at offer, we really hope to see this camera early next year. Till then, we’ve our fingers crossed.
