It could be easy to be confused about these two cameras. While they are very close in size and specs, the X-H2 has a boosted sensor size in the form of their new 40MP APS-C CMOS sensor. The cameras are nearly identical save for that one big upgrade in sensor size. So it begs the question, which is the right camera for you? Want more pixels for stills or the ability for 8K? The X-H2 is your choice. Ultimately it won't be a question as to which is the better camera but which works better for you personally. For most users the X-H2S will serve you very well and deliver on almost all of your photo & video needs. The trend seems to be most of the major manufacturers offering this tandem option of cameras with the main difference being the sensor size. At the end of the day the choice as to which will work for you is going to be up to your specific niche and needs!
