OVERVIEW

DuraMount dry mounting tissue is a premier product and one of the least expensive dry mount tissues available, and it is made in the USA!

DuraMount provides a smooth, even coating of adhesive. The tissue is breathable which improves the mounting process by allowing air to more easily escape before bonding takes place, significantly reducing trapped air bubbles.  

DuraMount is pH neutral and buffered to help keep prints from degrading after being mounted.  Standard mount boards can be somewhat acidic.  Over time the acidic qualities in substrates can migrate to the prints and damage them. Buffering is an additive that retards acidic degradation after mounting and offsets the migration entirely or slows the process.  Much depends on just how acidic the substrate is and the circumstances in which the print is displayed.  Whatever the case, buffering is clearly a benefit to the user.

DuraMount dry mounting tissue’s bond is reversible.  Although DuraMount is generally considered a permanent adhesive, if a print absolutely must be removed it can be. Unmounting a print is done by reheating the print and substrate to the bonding temperature of 190 degrees F (or hotter) and then removing the print from the substrate while it is still hot.
