Wrong T-mount adapter stuck in Sony A-mount camera — how can I remove it safely?

I accidentally mounted an Olympus T2 adapter ring on my Sony Alpha A-mount camera. The ring is slightly too small, so it slipped past the normal locking mechanism and now it rotates loosely but will not release. The lens itself can unscrew from the adapter, but the adapter ring remains stuck in the camera mount.

Pressing the lens release button does not help, and I can only rotate the ring a small amount in either direction. Is there a safe way to remove a misfit T-mount adapter without damaging the camera mount, or is professional service the best option?

Well, in the link you posted the Pentax forum, the guy mounted the lens back on the camera for extra grip and slowly applied force and it eventually came off - so there's that option...but...

The safest option is going to be to take it to local place or send your camera in to have it removed. If you damage the mount while trying remove it yourself through force you could end up spending quite a bit of money.

Because the adapter is the wrong mount and has slipped past the normal lock position, the safest advice is not to force it. If you twist too hard, you risk damaging the Sony mount or release mechanism.

One reported approach is to reattach the lens to the stuck adapter to give yourself better grip and then apply slow, careful turning pressure while pressing the release button. That may let it back out.

However, the safest and most sensible option is to take the camera to a local repair shop or send it in for service so they can remove the ring properly. That avoids turning a stuck adapter into a damaged camera mount.

Going forward, this lens needs the correct T-mount adapter for Sony A-mount; T-mount lenses are not one-size-fits-all at the camera end.
