Why won’t my Godox X1T-C trigger a TT350-C from a Canon EOS M3?

I’m using a Canon EOS M3 with a Godox X1T-C transmitter and a Godox TT350-C flash. The transmitter and flash seem to communicate, because pressing the X1T-C test button fires the TT350-C. The flash can also fire when the transmitter is mounted on the camera. However, the camera itself doesn’t appear to trigger the flash. The X1T-C is listed as compatible with the M3. What should I check?

If the X1T-C test button fires the TT350-C, the radio link between the two Godox units is working. The likely issue is camera compatibility via firmware.

For Canon EOS M3 support, the X1T-C needs firmware v22 or later, and the TT350-C needs firmware v1.5 or later for M3/M5/M6 compatibility. If either unit has older firmware, the transmitter may communicate with the flash but still not work properly with the camera.

Also, a flash firing while sliding the transmitter onto the hot shoe can be normal: the center firing pin may briefly short during mounting.

So the main thing to do is check and update the firmware on both the X1T-C and TT350-C to current versions, then test again on the camera.

If the transmitter already works with the flash, then the usual stuff seems to be ok. The flash may accidentally fire when putting the transmitter on, as the pin for firing my be shorted when sliding it into the socket.

Note that the X1T-C transmitter needs firmware V22 to work with the M3. Current version is V27 from 2019-06-18.

Also the TT350C needs v1.5 for M3/M5/M6 compatibility.

Please make sure both devices are patched up to current firmware levels. Some more details on that: How do I tell if my Godox trigger or flash needs a firmware update?
