Why is Flash control grayed out on a Nikon Z7 with a Phottix Odin II trigger?

I'm using a Nikon Z7 with an SB-910, a Phottix Odin II Receiver for Nikon, and a Phottix Odin II Flash Trigger for Nikon. The flash works on-camera in TTL, but when I try to use the off-camera trigger/receiver setup, the camera's Flash control menu is disabled and says the option is not available in the camera's current state. I've already turned off Silent Photography, set flash mode to Fill Flash, and selected Single Frame release mode. Is there a way to enable Flash control, or is this expected because of trigger/flash compatibility with the Z7?

You cannot control the trigger/speedlight from the camera because only the SB300/400/500/5000 are compatible with the Z's "unified flash control." https://onlinemanual.nikonimglib.com/z7_z6/en/11_on-camera_flash_photography_03.html
Also make sure you are not in H+ release mode. https://onlinemanual.nikonimglib.com/z7_z6/en/06_shooting_controls_04.html

This is most likely expected behavior, not a fault with your setup. On the Nikon Z7, the camera’s built-in Flash control menu only works with Nikon’s supported “unified flash control” units, specifically the SB-300, SB-400, SB-500, and SB-5000. An SB-910 used through a Phottix Odin II trigger/receiver will not be configurable from that camera menu.
So the grayed-out Flash control option does not necessarily mean the trigger and receiver are incompatible; it means the Z7 cannot manage that radio setup through its own flash menu. You’ll need to configure the flash and radio settings on the Phottix units and/or flash itself.
Also check that you are not in H+ continuous release mode, as that can disable flash-related options on the Z7. Single frame is fine.
In short: the menu won’t become active for that trigger/flash combination, but the system may still work if configured directly on the Phottix gear.
