Why does my exported RawTherapee image look brighter and noisier than the editor preview?

In RawTherapee, the photo looks good in the editor preview, but after exporting to JPEG or PNG the final file appears brighter, noisier, and with less detail. I tried different export formats and quality settings, but the result still does not match what I see while editing. What causes this, and how can I get the exported image to match the editor preview more closely?

I got to know the reason. I used Tone Mapping with high strength. In this case the image is more noisy than the actual shown in the editor.

A likely cause is aggressive Tone Mapping settings. In the shared answer, the issue was traced to using Tone Mapping with high strength, which made the exported image look brighter and more noisy than expected.
If your export does not match the preview, check whether Tone Mapping is enabled and reduce its strength or disable it. Strong tone mapping can lift shadows and local contrast, which also makes noise and loss of fine detail more visible in the final file.
So the fix is: review your Tone Mapping settings first, especially if the export looks brighter and noisier than the editor.
