Why does my Canon Rebel T5 make a noise in Live View with a Tamron 90mm macro lens?

I’m using a Canon Rebel T5 with a Tamron 90mm macro lens (non-VC). In Live View, when I change shutter speed, I hear a strange sound that seems to come from the camera or lens. It only happens in Live View and only with this lens, not with my other lenses.

I also sometimes see bands on the Live View screen in low light with this lens, but the bands do not appear in the final photos.

What is likely causing the sound, and is it normal?

When you change the shutter speed in live view, the camera may change the aperture to give you an accurate preview of the exposure. On some lenses, this movement of the diaphragm could cause noticeable sound.

By changing the shutter speed while looking at the front of your lens, you should be able to observe the movement of the diaphragm and, if there is any, confirm whether or not it is the cause of the sound you are hearing.

The most likely cause is the lens aperture diaphragm moving during Live View. To maintain an accurate exposure preview, the camera may adjust the aperture as you change settings like shutter speed. On some lenses, especially third-party ones, that diaphragm movement can be more noticeable and sound unusual compared with your other lenses.

A simple check: while changing shutter speed in Live View, look at the front of the lens and see whether the aperture blades are moving. If they are, that is probably the source of the sound.

Since the banding appears only on the Live View display and not in the saved images, it is likely just a display/preview artifact in low light rather than a problem with the actual photo. Overall, this behavior sounds normal if image quality is unaffected.
