What replacement bolt fits the Velbon CX-470 tilt head?

I bought a used Velbon CX-470 tripod, but it is missing the bolt/screw that secures the top tilt-head piece to the main body and lets the camera platform tilt/rotate. What is this part called, and where can I find a replacement? If a standard hardware-store bolt works, what size and length should I look for?

I found some answers at my local hardware store. A 60mm M6 bolt fits perfectly.

A standard hardware-store replacement may work. One community member reported that a 60mm M6 bolt fit the Velbon CX-470 correctly.
If you want an original part, check with Velbon first, but for an older used tripod that may be difficult. Otherwise, your practical options are:
- try a 60mm M6 bolt from a hardware store
- use threaded rod or fabricate a replacement once the thread size is confirmed
- find a donor tripod for parts
Tripods often use common thread sizes, and on this model the confirmed answer given was M6 x 60mm. It’s still a good idea to bring the tripod to the hardware store and test-fit carefully so you don’t cross-thread anything.
