My wife’s Canon IXUS 960 IS is filling up 2GB cards quickly. Before buying larger cards, I’d like to know the largest capacity this camera can use. Is there a documented maximum memory card size for the Canon IXUS 960 IS?

Canon's User Guide (and Wikipedia and dpreview) list the camera as compatible with SDHC cards, which has a maximum size of 32GB.
It'd be unusual for something to list as SDHC compatible and not be, and a quick google for memory card problems didn't turn up much of anything. I'd feel pretty confident using any SDHC card.

The Canon IXUS 960 IS is listed as compatible with SDHC cards. SDHC officially supports card capacities up to 32GB, so 32GB is the practical maximum supported size.
Canon documentation and other spec sources also mention support for at least 8GB cards, which confirms it goes beyond standard SD capacity. Since the camera is identified as SDHC-compatible, using SDHC cards up to 32GB should be fine.
In short: buy an SDHC card, and up to 32GB should be supported.
