I’m looking for a free program to edit my photos. The options I’ve tried so far feel too limited. What free editors are considered good choices, and are any of them better for organizing photos or batch editing as well?

There are a few, but two of the best are:
The Gnu Image Manipulation Program (quite powerful)
Paint.NET (not as powerful as the GIMP, but very good)

Several free photo editors are commonly recommended:
- gimp: One of the most powerful free image editors available, with a wide range of editing tools.
- paint.net: Easier to use than GIMP for many people, though generally not as advanced.
- xnview: Useful if you also want photo organization, batch editing, and scripting features.
- picasa / iphoto: Mentioned as simpler alternatives, though more limited overall; iPhoto is Mac-only.
If you want the most capability, GIMP is the strongest option of those listed. If you prefer something simpler, Paint.NET is a solid choice. If managing and batch-processing images matters, XnView is worth a look.
