I'm looking for a simple metadata editor for JPG files on Windows 7 Starter. For geolocation I may use Picasa, but I also want an easy way to edit photo metadata such as EXIF/IPTC fields, photographer information, keywords, and possibly adjust date and time. What would be a good option?

For geocoding photos, I've always used Microsoft Pro Photo Tools which is free and lets you drag and drop onto a map (or aerial view, if you prefer) - it also allows you to upload a GPX track from a GPS unit, and you can match up against that. It also supports setting other metadata, such as photographer information, keywords, or adjusting dates and times.

A simple Windows option mentioned by the community is Microsoft Pro Photo Tools. It’s free and can edit JPG metadata, including geotagging by dragging photos onto a map or aerial view. It also supports importing a GPX track from a GPS device so you can match locations automatically.

Beyond geolocation, it can set other metadata such as photographer information, keywords, and date/time adjustments, which makes it a practical all-around metadata editor for basic EXIF/IPTC-style tasks on Windows 7.
