Nikon D3200 gives “Press shutter release button again” when switching to Live View

My Nikon D3200 works normally through the viewfinder, but when I switch to Live View it seems to mechanically jam and shows the error message “Press shutter release button again.” After a moment the issue clears, but the camera returns to viewfinder shooting instead of entering Live View. This happens every time I try to use Live View. What could cause this, and what should I check first?

A likely first cause is low or insufficient battery power. Switching a DSLR like the Nikon D3200 into Live View requires the mirror/shutter mechanism to complete a cycle, and if the battery can’t supply enough power the camera may fail partway through and show “Press shutter release button again.”

First thing to try: fully charge the battery, or test with another known-good battery if you have one. If Live View works with a fresh battery, the battery was probably the issue.

If the problem continues even with a fully charged, healthy battery, the camera may have a mechanical fault and would need further inspection or service.

My bet is on a battery problem that precludes the camera from completing the live view cycle. Try with a freshly charged battery maybe?
