I’m moving Lightroom to a new computer and want to keep my custom watermarks and export presets. What’s the best way to save them and import them on the new machine?

  1. Right click on the Export Setting preset you want to save.
  2. Click Export. Save to a directory.

Bring this file to your new machine, and go to the Lightroom export dialog. Make sure to install any export plugins like Mogrify first.

  1. Right click in an empty area of the preset listings.
  2. Click Import. Navigate to the setting file you brought over.

Yes—Lightroom stores these as presets, and you can move them in either of two ways:

  1. Export/import individual export presets:
  • In Lightroom, right-click the export preset you want to keep.
  • Choose Export and save the preset file.
  • On the new computer, install any needed export plugins first.
  • In the Export dialog, right-click in the presets area and choose Import, then select the saved file.
  1. Copy the Lightroom presets folder:
  • Go to Edit > Preferences > Presets.
  • Click Show Lightroom Presets Folder.
  • Open the Lightroom folder and copy the relevant preset folders, such as Export Presets/User Presets and any watermark-related folders, or copy the whole Lightroom presets folder.
  • Paste or merge those into the same location on the new computer.

Copying the full presets folder is the easiest way if you want to bring over all custom presets, including watermarks.
