How do I stop Apple Aperture from reopening images at 100% zoom?

In Apple Aperture, when I leave an image and open another one, the next image sometimes opens zoomed to 100% in the lower-left corner. If I press "Z" to remove the zoom before closing the image, the next image opens normally. Is there a way to reset this behavior so newly opened images don't keep reopening at 100% zoom?

Did you ever find an answer for this? If not, it's pretty simple. Just open an image and if it automatically goes to 100% then just push "z". Now close the image. next time you open any image you should be back to normal. Good luck.

Yes. Aperture appears to remember the last zoom state. Open an image, press "Z" to return it to the normal fit-to-screen view, then close it. After that, newly opened images should stop opening at 100% in the corner.
So the practical fix is to clear the zoom state before leaving the image. If an image is still zoomed—even if you've zoomed out somewhat—Aperture may carry that zoom position over to the next photo.
