How do I reset the history stack for multiple images at once in darktable?

I’ve edited a large number of photos in darktable and want to start over from scratch. I know how to reset or compress the history stack for a single image, but doing that one by one for hundreds of images is too time-consuming. Is there a way in darktable to discard or reset the history stack for many selected images at the same time?

Actually there is a discard history feature inside darktable for exactly this. But as the documentation states:
"Beware: this action can not be undone!"
In the lighttable view, select all images you want to reset, then in the right panel, find the module history stack and click discard history. That will "Physically delete the history stack of the selected images."
Further information in the user manual.

Yes. In darktable’s lighttable view, select all the images you want to reset, then use the right-hand panel’s history stack module and choose discard history. This removes the history stack for all selected images at once.
Be careful: this action cannot be undone.
A possible workaround mentioned by users is to copy the reset history stack from one image and paste it to the others, but darktable already provides the dedicated discard history command for batch use. Removing XMP sidecar files and re-importing may also reset edits, but the built-in discard history feature is the proper method.
