How do I move Olympus Master album information to a new Windows PC?

I copied my photo files to a new Windows laptop and installed Olympus Master, but the albums I created on the old computer did not come over. The photos are in the same folder structure on the new machine. Is there a way to transfer Olympus Master’s album/library data from the old PC so the albums appear on the new one, or do I need to rebuild them manually?

According to these forum posts, you have to copy the contents of the

C:/Documents and Settings/Your_User_name/Application Data/OLYMPUS/Olympus_Master

or

C:/Users/Your_NAME/AppData/Local/OLYMPUS/OYMPUS_Data

directory.

Yes. Olympus Master appears to store its album/library data in its application data folder rather than with the image files themselves. To migrate the albums, copy the Olympus Master data folder from the old PC to the equivalent location on the new PC.

The community answer points to these possible locations:

  • C:/Documents and Settings/Your_User_name/Application Data/OLYMPUS/Olympus_Master
  • C:/Users/Your_NAME/AppData/Local/OLYMPUS/OYMPUS_Data

On newer Windows versions, AppData is usually hidden, so enable hidden files/folders if needed. Close Olympus Master before copying. After copying, start Olympus Master on the new machine and check whether the albums appear.

It’s also a good idea to keep the photo folder paths as close as possible to the originals, since some cataloging software stores references to file locations. If the paths have changed, you may still need to relink or rebuild some album entries.
