How do I make a downloaded lens profile appear in Lightroom 6?

I’m using Lightroom 6 on a Mac and want to add a lens correction profile (.lcp) for a newer Tamron lens. I copied the file into Lightroom’s application resources lens profile folder, but Lightroom does not show it in the profile list. Where should custom lens profile files be placed so Lightroom can detect them?

Since you are using forward slashes, i'm going to assume you are on a mac.
In this case, google tells me that the path your .lcp files should go into is
Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / Lens Profiles

On macOS, Lightroom may not read a manually added .lcp file from the app’s internal resources folder. Put the lens profile in the user Camera Raw lens profiles location instead:
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Lens Profiles
You can create the needed maker/mount subfolders there if desired. After copying the .lcp file, restart Lightroom and then check the Lens Corrections/Profile panel again.
If you don’t see the user Library folder in Finder, use Go while holding Option, or use Go to Folder and paste the path.
