How do I get white balance support for Canon EOS 1100D RAW files in UFRaw?

I’m using a Canon EOS 1100D and want to edit its CR2 RAW files with GIMP via UFRaw. UFRaw reports that there are no white balance presets for this camera model. Is there a way to add support or make it work properly?

Canon EOS 1100D white balance presents have been commited to ufraw source at 2011 July. Either install an ufraw binary version which was created later, or you might compile your own version.

White balance support for the Canon EOS 1100D was added to the UFRaw source in July 2011. If your installation says the camera has no white balance presets, you’re likely using an older UFRaw build. The practical fixes are:

  • install a newer UFRaw binary/package built after that update, or
  • compile a newer version of UFRaw yourself from source.

If updating UFRaw isn’t practical, you can use another RAW converter that supports the 1100D’s CR2 files, such as RawTherapee or darktable, and then continue editing from there.

So yes, it should work — but you’ll need a sufficiently recent version of UFRaw, or an alternative RAW processor.
