Why does UFRaw send my RAW file to GIMP at a tiny size?

When I open a .cr2 RAW file in UFRaw, it looks normal there, but after I send it to GIMP the image becomes extremely small. For example, a file that should be around 2374×1591 ends up around 24×15 pixels. JPEGs from the same camera open in GIMP at the correct size. What setting in UFRaw could cause this?

I have found the setting which was giving me this strange behaviour. I had set it without even noticing.

It was under the crop and rotate tab, scaling factor (in italian fattore di ridimensionamento). In my case it was set to 100, I put it back to 1 and the problem was solved. Notice that this scaling is not applied to the image while in ufraw, but only at the moment of saving/sending to gimp.

I couldn't admit defeat and reinstall without understanding, I knew that it had to be a wrong setting on my part, I went through each tab and I finally found the error :-)

This is usually caused by UFRaw’s scaling setting, not by the RAW file itself. In the Crop and Rotate tab, check the Scaling Factor. If it has been set to 100, UFRaw will greatly reduce the image when exporting or sending it to GIMP, even if the preview in UFRaw looks normal. Set the scaling factor back to 1 (or 100% depending on how your version labels it), then send/export again. That should restore the full image dimensions.
