How do I enable exposure bracketing on a Pentax K-50 while using manual focus-point selection?

On the Pentax K-50, the four-way controller is normally used to access settings like exposure bracketing, but when AF point selection is set to Select, those buttons move the focus point instead. Is there a faster way to switch between focus-point selection and the normal four-way controller functions without changing AF settings in the menu or reassigning the RAW/Fx button?

Just press/long-press the Ok button:

  • When in menu mode, simply press to switch to focus point selection
  • When in focus point selection, long-press to switch back to menu mode
  • When in focus point selection, press to reset the selection point to the middle one.

There is even a small icon on the button itself, under the Ok label, but it's not as clear as they must have intended (I had to know what it does, before understanding the icon meaning)

Yes. Use the OK button to toggle the four-way controller’s mode.

On the Pentax K-50:

  • In normal/menu mode, press OK to enter focus-point selection.
  • While in focus-point selection, long-press OK to return to the normal four-way controller functions.
  • While in focus-point selection, a short press of OK resets the AF point to the center.

So if the controller is currently moving the focus point, long-press OK first, then use the right button to access the drive/bracketing options and enable exposure bracketing. This avoids changing the AF-area mode in the menus or using the RAW/Fx button for that purpose.
