How do I add multiple keywords to photos in Lightroom without them disappearing from the 'Without Keywords' collection?

In Adobe Lightroom, I’m finding untagged photos using the built-in smart collection for photos without keywords. The problem is that as soon as I apply the first keyword, the photo no longer matches that smart collection and disappears before I can add additional keywords. What’s the best way to assign multiple keywords at once, or otherwise keep working through these photos efficiently?

The keyword box and keyword field below it work differently. The latter makes it easy to do what you want by inserting comma-separated keywords. Once you press Enter, all the words apply and the image is moved out of the collection but the point is that you can now apply multiple keywords at once. If you really do not like commas, you must change it to another character in the Preferences menu.

The built-in “Without Keywords” group is a smart collection, so once a photo gets its first keyword it no longer matches and disappears. That behavior is normal.
The easiest fix is to add multiple keywords in one step using Lightroom’s keyword entry field: type the keywords as a comma-separated list, then press Enter. Lightroom applies them all at once before the photo drops out of the smart collection.
If you want the photos to stay visible while you work, copy them into a regular (non-smart) collection and keyword them there instead.
Another option is to use keyword sets and their shortcuts to apply several keywords very quickly, but the most straightforward solution is entering multiple keywords together in the keyword field.
