How can I build Lightroom Smart Collections for hierarchical keywords like “shutterstock > accepted”?

I use hierarchical keywords in Lightroom to track stock submissions, for example a parent keyword like _shutterstock with child keywords such as _accepted or _rejected. I’d like a Smart Collection that shows only images tagged as shutterstock > accepted, without also matching other hierarchies such as dreamstime > accepted. Is there a reliable Smart Collection rule for this, or is there a better workflow for tracking site-specific accepted/rejected images?

Lightroom doesn't do well with understanding hierarchical keywords for its filters, however you could try setting the collection to match ALL the conditions and have one for _shutterstock and one for _accepted. Any image with the shutterstock accepted keyword will have both shutterstock and accepted since they are nested.

Lightroom’s Smart Collections don’t handle hierarchical keywords very reliably for this use. If you filter on a child term like “accepted,” Lightroom can also match images from other parent keyword branches.
A partial workaround is to build the Smart Collection to match all conditions, such as:
- keyword contains
_shutterstock - keyword contains
_accepted
That may work in some cases because images tagged with the nested child also inherit the parent context, but users report it can still be unreliable.
A more dependable workflow is to avoid generic child terms for this purpose and use unique flat keywords instead, such as:
shutterstock_acceptedshutterstock_rejecteddreamstime_accepted
Then your Smart Collections can match those exact keywords without false positives.
If you want to keep your current hierarchy, another workaround is to combine keywords with a second metadata marker, such as color labels or star ratings, to distinguish accepted/rejected status.
