I’m using a Canon EOS RP with a Canon Speedlite 430EX II and bought a Godox X1T-C 2.4GHz transmitter. The flash will not sync or fire wirelessly. What do I need to make this setup work?

If you want to control the 430EX II via radio, you need to connect a compatible radio receiver to the hot foot of the flash. The only wireless capability the 430EX II has own its own is optical wireless control using Canon's optical wireless protocol.

The Godox X1R-C is the only radio receiver not built into a Godox flash that I'm aware of that is compatible with all of Godox's 2.4GHz transmitters, such as your X1T-C.

The Canon 430EX II does not have built-in Godox 2.4GHz radio, so the X1T-C transmitter alone cannot trigger it wirelessly.

To use that flash with the Godox X system, you need a compatible radio receiver attached to the flash, such as the Godox X1R-C. The setup is:

  • X1T-C on the EOS RP hot shoe
  • X1R-C receiver connected to the 430EX II hot shoe/foot

Without a receiver, the 430EX II only supports Canon’s optical wireless system, not Godox radio control.

So your options are:

  1. Add a Godox-compatible receiver to the 430EX II, or
  2. Use Canon optical wireless gear instead of the Godox radio system.

If the flash is mounted directly on the camera hot shoe, it should work as a normal on-camera flash, but for off-camera radio triggering, a receiver is required.
