How can I safely carry a DSLR while climbing a tree?

I sometimes climb relatively short trees and need to bring my DSLR with me. The problem is that when I lift it up or wear it on a strap, it can swing around and bump into branches. Is there a practical way to carry a camera more securely while climbing?

If it's only for DSLR try put it inside your shirt hung by your neck. Specially at autumn/winter with sweaters works for me.

A simple approach is to keep the DSLR secured against your body instead of letting it hang freely. One community suggestion is to wear it on its neck strap and tuck it inside your shirt or sweater, which helps stop it from swinging and reduces the chance of it hitting branches. This can work especially well with thicker clothing in cooler weather. Whatever method you use, the key is to keep the camera snug to your body rather than dangling loose.
