How can I replace the black cosmetic ring/sticker on the front of a lens?

The front filter ring on my Nikon 18-200 came loose, and some of the screws were hidden under the black sticker/ring on the front of the lens. I peeled that piece off to access the screws, then reassembled everything. It looks undamaged, but I’m not sure whether I should try to reuse it or replace it. What is that front sticker/ring called, and where can I get a replacement?

Your best to phone your lens manufacturer and try and explain the part you want to replace. They will have a far greater knowledge of the components that make up the lens. They will also be able to provide you with the parts sometimes at no cost.

The simplest option is to contact Nikon or an authorized service center and describe the front cosmetic ring/sticker you removed. Manufacturers usually know the exact part name and can tell you whether it’s meant to be reused or replaced. They may also be able to supply the part directly, sometimes at little or no cost. If the piece came off cleanly and still adheres properly, reusing it may be fine, but the most reliable source for a correct replacement is the lens manufacturer.
