How can I reinsert the pull-out bounce card on a Godox TT685/V860 flash?

The built-in pull-out bounce card on my Godox speedlight came out completely while shooting. The 14mm wide diffuser still works normally. Can the bounce card usually be reinserted without taking the flash head apart, and if so what’s the best way to do it? If not, is using an external accessory bounce card a practical alternative?

I had the same with my V860, but managed to get it back in quite easily.
I took the 14 mm diffuser half out, and then inserted the bounce card behind it starting with one side, so a little tilted. Then pressed the side that was in already firmly against the edge and gently pushed the other side in too.

You can usually reinsert it without disassembling the flash head. A practical method is to pull the 14mm diffuser partway out, then slide the bounce card back in behind it at a slight angle. Start with one side first, press that side gently against the edge, then work the other side in carefully. That matches others’ experience with similar Godox units such as the V860.
If the card is bent or keeps crimping, an external bounce reflector is a perfectly workable alternative. Small reflectors that attach to the flash head with an elastic band are commonly used for both on-camera and quick off-camera “run-and-gun” shooting, even by people whose built-in cards are still intact.
So: try reinserting it first; if it’s damaged or frustrating to fit, an accessory bounce card is a simple backup solution.
