I’m using a Canon Speedlite 430EX II off-camera with remote triggers, and it goes to sleep after sitting idle. Is there a way to turn off the flash’s auto power-off so I don’t have to keep walking over to wake it up?

The "Auto power off" feature can be toggled as one of the unit's "custom features". You need to set feature number 1 to have the value "1".

To set the custom features:

  1. Press the "C.Fn" button for 2 sec. or more so that "C.Fn" is displayed on screen.
  2. Select the Custom Function No.
    • Press the + button to select the Custom Function number ("01").
  3. Change the setting.
    • Press the "sel" button.
    • The setting number will blink.
    • Press the + button to set the desired number ("1"), then press the "sel" button.
    • After you set the Custom Function and press the "MODE" button, the camera will be ready to shoot.

Yes. On the Canon Speedlite 430EX II, auto power-off can be disabled using a Custom Function.

Set Custom Function 01 to value 1:

  1. Press and hold the C.Fn button for about 2 seconds until C.Fn appears.
  2. Use the + button to select Custom Function 01.
  3. Press SEL.
  4. When the setting number blinks, use + to change it to 1.
  5. Press SEL again to confirm.
  6. Press MODE to exit.

That disables the flash’s auto power-off behavior, which is useful for off-camera use with simple radio triggers.
