How can I bracket exposures for HDR on a Nikon D3300 without AEB?

I’m moving from a Canon 1200D to a Nikon D3300 and miss Auto Exposure Bracketing for simple 3-shot HDR sequences. The D3300 doesn’t offer AEB, but I’d still like to capture a set such as -1 EV, 0 EV, and +1 EV as efficiently as possible. What’s the practical workaround on this camera?

Fix your camera on a tripod, set it to M(anual) mode and adjust the shutter speed manually.

The straightforward workaround is to bracket manually.
Mount the camera on a tripod, switch to Manual exposure mode, and keep aperture and ISO fixed. Take your base exposure, then change only the shutter speed to make the darker and brighter frames, for example 0 EV, -1 EV, and +1 EV.
This gives you the same result as basic AEB for HDR, with the added benefit that depth of field and image quality stay consistent because aperture and ISO do not change.
A tripod is important so the frames line up well for HDR merging. If your scene is static, this manual method works fine even though it’s slower than automatic bracketing.
