For older Nikon DSLRs such as the D50 and D90 that have a DC IN port, if you connect the Nikon EH-5a AC adapter, does it only run the camera from wall power, or will it also charge the battery inside the camera?

According to Nikon USA, it is just a power supply and does not charge the battery.
Q: Will this also charge the camera batteries or is it just a power supply?
A: It's just a power supply.

The Nikon EH-5a is a power supply, not a battery charger. On compatible cameras, it provides external power to run the camera, but it does not charge the battery installed in the camera. If you need to recharge the battery, you’ll need the appropriate Nikon battery charger rather than the EH-5a AC adapter.
