Do point-and-shoot cameras support RAW, and can unsupported models be made to shoot RAW?

I'm trying to find out which compact/point-and-shoot cameras can record RAW files. Do all point-and-shoots support RAW, or only some models? If a camera doesn't list RAW in its specifications, is there any practical way to add that capability?

Many Canon PowerShots can, using the alternative firmware CHDK (found here: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK)

Not all point-and-shoot cameras support RAW. It’s usually found on higher-end compact models, while cheaper cameras often only save JPEG.
The first thing to do is check the camera’s manual or official feature list. If you’re shopping, review sites and camera databases can help you filter compact models by RAW support.
Some compact cameras do support RAW natively—for example, models like the Canon PowerShot S95 and Panasonic LX-series cameras such as the DMC-LX5.
For certain Canon PowerShot models, there is also CHDK, an alternative firmware add-on that can enable RAW capture on some cameras that don’t offer it by default. However, this is limited to supported models and isn’t a universal solution for all point-and-shoot cameras.
So the short answer is: only some point-and-shoots shoot RAW, and on unsupported cameras the only notable workaround mentioned is CHDK on compatible Canon models.
