Can you change Lightroom keyboard shortcuts on Windows 10?

I’m using Lightroom on Windows 10 with a 60% wireless mechanical keyboard, and the \ key now requires a key combination. That makes it awkward to use the before/after preview shortcut. Is there any way to remap Lightroom’s built-in keyboard shortcuts to a different key?

I was forwarded to this link from another site that appears to have some form of an answer: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/custom-keyboard-shortcuts/

TL;DR

  • Navigate to: Windows—C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\Resources\en\
  • Create a plain text file in that folder and name it TranslatedStrings_Lr_en_US.txt
  • Search another language's file for the shortcut you wish to copy, ie Resources\es\TranslatedStrings_Lr_es_ES.txt
  • Use search function to find specific shortcut required and copy into the new .txt file (ie. “$$$/LibraryMenus/MenuShortcut/DecreaseRating=a”)
  • Save the file and open up Lightroom

Yes—Lightroom doesn’t offer normal in-app shortcut customization, but on Windows you can override some shortcuts by creating a custom translated strings file.

Based on the shared solution:

  • Go to Lightroom’s language resources folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom\Resources\en\
  • Create a plain text file named TranslatedStrings_Lr_en_US.txt
  • Open one of Lightroom’s existing language files (for example another locale in the Resources folders)
  • Search for the shortcut entry you want to change and copy the relevant line into your new file
  • Edit that entry to the key you want
  • Save the file and restart Lightroom

Example format mentioned in the answers: $$$/LibraryMenus/MenuShortcut/DecreaseRating=a

So, while Lightroom on Windows doesn’t have a simple shortcut editor, it is possible to customize certain shortcuts through this file-based workaround. Be aware this is an advanced tweak and may not be officially supported in the same way as a built-in preference.
