Can the Canon PowerShot SX530 use a manual-focus lens like the Brightin Star 35mm f/1.7?

I’m new to photography and have a Canon PowerShot SX530. I’m finding focus difficult and was looking at a low-cost manual-focus lens, specifically the Brightin Star 35mm f/1.7. Can this camera use interchangeable manual-focus lenses, and would that lens be compatible? If not, what kind of camera would I need to use lenses like that?

That lens is listed as compatible with Canon EOS-M cameras, which are interchangable lens cameras. The PowerShot line of cameras does not have an interchangable lens. So, no, it's not compatible with your SX530.

I can't speak to the quality of the lens, but the lack of any reviews on Amazon says something... As does the fact that a simple Google search for "Brightin Star" shows ... nothing.

No. The Canon PowerShot SX530 is not an interchangeable-lens camera, so you cannot mount lenses like the Brightin Star 35mm f/1.7 on it. That lens is made for interchangeable-lens camera systems, not the fixed-lens PowerShot SX530.

There are screw-on converter attachments for some compact cameras, but they are not the same as true interchangeable lenses and may make image-quality or focusing issues worse.

As for the Brightin Star lens itself, the community responses do not suggest strong confidence in its quality, and compatibility is the bigger issue here anyway.

If you want to use manual-focus lenses, you would generally need an interchangeable-lens camera—especially a mirrorless model, which is usually the easiest type for adapting many manual-focus lenses. If you are still able to return the SX530 and your goal is to learn with different lenses, an entry-level or older mirrorless camera would be a more suitable path.
